I had a convo with a friend late Thursday evening and we were talking about purpose. He said to me, ‘I have an idea of what God wants me to do in the future, I have a picture of what God is calling me to be but right now, the road to it seems so bleak, so unclear. It seems like I don’t know what to do or how to get from here to there.
He was preaching to the choir. It would seem like a number of us are in this boat but I have come to discover a perspective which gave me clarity and I shared this with him.
Walking in purpose is not as technical as it appears to be; to be in purpose is simply to be obedient to God….per time.
It can be as simple as praying for all the people God lays on your heart that day. It can be as tasking as standing for hours in the sun, witnessing Christ to people. It can be as mundane as packing instruments after meetings and it can sometimes be as ‘confusing’ as; ‘stay still and do nothing’.
Purpose is not popularity; it is not necessary to be known or seen as doing to fulfil God’s purpose for our lives.
I remember this movie of a man who had worked as a Janitor in a high school for several years. He had witnessed many students come and go on to become influential people in the society. Why did he spend so many years as a Janitor? Why didn’t he upgrade himself and leave to improve his life? It turns out that God had told him in all those years to every morning, go around and touch each individual locker of all the students and pray specific prayers for them. This is not a small assignment at all. He had to resume way earlier than his shift so he could do this and do his actual job before students resumed. He did this for many years without anyone discovering until a series of events brought his actions to the limelight.
It would seem like these drops of daily obedience soon became an ocean of transformational influence that spanned many years in the lives of the children he prayed for.
I have learnt that purpose is embedded in fellowship, to wake up every morning saying, ‘Thank you Lord for a brand new day! Now, what would you have me do today?’ Then whatever He says, I do it…even if it seems ‘one kain.’
Let go of any confusion or pressure and just focus on your fellowship with God. Be content with playing the background if that is what God desires of you. He alone qualifies your success.
Purpose = Obedience to God’s instruction to YOU….per time
Point. Blank – Period.

The concept of purpose from Fellowship is at the least, revealing!
Thank you!
